Born in Louisiana and bred here in Utah, I’m the Beehive State’s specially-sourced Honey (buhdum tisss). Between you and me, I prefer snow… visually, rather than intimately. Miraculously, I entertain myself, sans snow, by camping, museum strolling, birdwatching, and defending my Dig Dug high score at the local arcade.

Naturally excited by living life outside clichés, surface level engagements never appealed to me. I desired individuals I could express myself with, those seeking  needing that extra spice to life. Then VIOLA I discovered the acta non verba treasure of companionship. A world where a little devotion caters those who value time together as an opportunity for genuine human connection, intimacy, and passion.

My career is in medical humanitarianism, so feigning interest or compassion doesn’t mesh with my character. Hence, why my storys’ Rolodex is filled with unforgettable moments. From breaking language barriers with charades in a megashelter clinic to informing the National Guard- yes, the miniature pony MUST be allowed in the dormitory, and, no, we cannot pet it.

I find I’m able to experience life’s unique joys through acceptance and serenity- believing no one should feel boxed in or trapped. Encounters should thrive from exploring the playfulness or passion found in sincere human connection.

When we are together, you’re just as much my companion as I am yours. It’s inevitable that, during our moments together, we will build a connection so specially intertwined and molded, it can only be described as, Us.

Maybe, then, an even better revision of the phrase would be: “Meeting people where neither of us are,” to signify that a true “meeting” will open up something beyond whether either person started. –  Against “Meeting People Where They Are”, Tom Beaudoin
